Getting to know… Vanessa Gordon

Vanessa Gordon is team leader equestrian at the stables at Ravenswood, Norwood’s collection of homes in Berkshire. In addition to loving horses, she also has a passion for a former basketball player called Charles.

What is your job title?

Team leader equestrian.

How long have you worked for Norwood?

Thirty-seven years.

Can you describe what you do in a sentence or two?

I run the stables where the people we support can experience an equine-based activity every day.

What do you like most about your role?

Working with our horses and the difference I make in people’s lives.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?

I volunteer as an official with youth basketball.

What has been your best holiday so far?

Antigua.

Name one thing on your ‘list of things I’d like to do’ one day?

If you were a time traveller and could go back in time, which year/decade/period in history would you visit, and why?

I’d like to go back to 1900 so that I could finish a life I believe I lived at that time.

Who would be your three ideal famous dinner party guests, from any point in time, and why?

Charles Barkley because he’s my favourite sports personality. Oprah Winfrey because she would hold a great conversation. And my mum who passed in 2009.

What animal do you think you’re most like and why? OR If you could be any animal for a day, what would you be and why?

Any bird so I could look at the world from a different view.

The Green Mile.
