Getting to know… Andrea Ford

1 July 2019

Andrea Ford is Norwood’s wellbeing and physical activity manager

Can you describe what you do in a sentence or two? I am responsible for overseeing the wellbeing and physical activity team in London and Berkshire which also includes the Ravenswood Stables service.

What do you like most about your role? Working with the people we support every day, getting to know what they enjoy and supporting them to grow and develop while improving their wellbeing, health and overall quality of life.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working? Music and going to concerts (music always sounds better live), watching sports and playing golf not very well when I get the chance.

What has been your best holiday so far? Last year I went to South Africa on safari which I would highly recommend.

Name one thing on your ‘list of things I’d like to do’ one day? Go to Wimbledon – I have always wanted to go but have never been lucky enough to get tickets.

If you were a time traveller and could go back in time, which period in history would you visit, and why? I’m a huge fan of Peaky Blinders so the late 19th to early 20th century.

Who would be your three ideal famous dinner party guests, from any point in time, and why? Pink – she is an inspiration and a great role model. Sir Alex Ferguson – the greatest football manager of all time in my opinion, and Harry Redknapp because he’s interesting, funny and the king of the jungle.

What animal do you think you’re most like and why? I would say I am most like an elephant. They are gentle giants who show great care towards others, are determined, loyal and good at keeping calm and having patience.

What is your favourite film? Bridesmaids – it always makes me laugh.

Favourite book? A good Lynda La Plante.

Favourite food? I love food so it is hard to pick one, but the kid in me would say fish fingers, chips and baked beans followed by strawberry Angel Delight and jelly.

Favourite drink? A nice cup of tea.
