Norwood’s hugely popular Golf Day raises record £70,000 as people the charity supports play for the first time 17 July 2017 Press Release The C J O’Shea and Galliard Homes Norwood Golf Day, which has become a highlight of the charity and community calendar since its inauguration in 2002, raised more than £70,000 this year – the highest total ever recorded. Held at Dyrham Park Country Club in Hertfordshire on 5 July, this year also saw people that Norwood supports at its Ravenswood accommodation in Berkshire take to the fairways and play five holes for the first time in the event’s history. Keen golfers Peter, Philip, Lenny, Simon and Daniel, who all have learning disabilities and are supported by Norwood at Ravenswood, joined players from sponsors C J O’Shea, Galliard Homes, and Howard Kennedy and other Norwood supporters on the 6,497 yard course. A total of 88 people took part on the day. A team from Magnet came out on top in the team competition on the day, closely followed by golfers from J R Hoarding. Once back in the clubhouse, attendees enjoyed a talk by keen golfer Peter on his life and the support he receives from Norwood. Peter is a resident at Ravenswood and is an avid member of the sports club there. All the funds raised will go towards helping Norwood continue to support thousands of vulnerable children and their families, children with special educational needs and adults with learning disabilities.
