A fruitful Tu B’Shevat for Norwood

27 January 2016

Across Norwood, children, staff and people supported by the charity have been celebrating Tu B’Shevat, the Jewish New Year for trees.

At Ravenswood, Norwood’s accommodation in Berkshire, residents marked the festival with a freshly prepared fruit salad and a morning spent planting trees in the garden, while children from the Somers Centre’s after-school club fashioned fruit shaped sweets out of marzipan.

In Hendon, children at Norwood Nursery planted cress in colourful plant pots they’d decorated themselves.

Nursery Manager Lisa Lawrence said: "The children had a wonderful day exploring the festival of Tu B’Shevat, rolling up their sleeves for some messy painting and planting mustard cress seeds."
