Norwood’s biggest ever Mitzvah!

27 November 2015

This Mitzvah Day more people than ever before joined Norwood to help mark the annual celebration of volunteering and social action.

Over 250 enthusiastic volunteers got stuck into a range of activities including baking, crafting, cleaning toys, gardening, painting and putting on a disco for Norwood residents.

Jennie Wharram, Business Development Manager for Volunteering at Norwood said: "We were overwhelmed by the support we got from local schools, colleges, clubs and synagogues, as well as members of the local community.

"Some of our bravest volunteers manned Norwood’s foodbank collection in the biting cold wind at Harrow Weald Waitrose, and we filled six car loads with the donations we received! We were also delighted to be named as runners up in the Mitzvah Day Interfaith Partnership of the Year Award."
