Ping pong grand slam raises £10,000 for Norwood

21 July 2015

Seventy table tennis players served up a smashing result for Norwood on Sunday, raising £10,000 for the charity at the first ever ‘Over the Net’ competition at Edgware’s London Academy, sponsored by Hamilton Court Developments.

The event attracted competitors of all ages, with the youngest just 16. Players battled through the ‘Champions League style’ group stages before the nail-biting knockout rounds, with James Swede of Darlingtons Solicitors taking the trophy. Despite the stiff competition the atmosphere remained good natured and everyone had a fantastic night.

Organiser Jonathan Ellis of Hamilton Court Developments, said: "We couldn’t believe how many people turned out to show off their skills and support this brilliant cause. We hope to make it a yearly event, so start practicing your backspins now."
