Luke Johnson, Chairman of private equity house Risk Capital Partners LLP joined over 330 business leaders at Norwood’s annual Private Equity Dinner on Monday evening, helping the charity to raise a record-breaking £135,000.

In conversation with Tim Hames, Director General of the British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association, the former Channel Four Chairman said that smaller government and a stronger economy meant more room for entrepreneurs to innovate and flourish. "There’s plenty of capital in the world. In fact, I think there’s a surplus of it. What we need is better entrepreneurs and better teams. I would like to see Private Equity throw away their toys and do something really useful with their money."

Sponsored by MBA & Company, Norwood’s Private Equity Dinner was held at London’s Savoy Hotel. Auction and raffle prizes included a private ride with Olympic Cycling Gold Medallist Steven Burke MBE, an Eden Hazard signed Chelsea shirt and tickets to The X Factor semi-final, kindly donated by Simon Cowell.

Norwood supports people with learning disabilities and autism, children with special educational needs and families facing some of life’s toughest challenges. The charity is celebrating 200 years of Royal Patronage.
