Mama Mia! Ravenswood Summer Fair gets a taste of ABBA

8 July 2014

Revellers at Ravenswood's annual summer fair were treated to a slice of summery Swedish pop as AᗺBA tribute act A4ABBA played a medley of the band's greatest hits on Sunday 6 July.

More than two hundred people came to the event, held at Ravenswood in Crowthorne, which raised over £3,000. Ravenswood provides residential care for 130 adults with learning disabilities in individual and supported living homes, lifelong learning courses, job coaching and a programme of sports and leisure activities.

Super trouper fair-goers could "take a chance" and enter the raffle and tombola, or try their hand at tin can alley and hoopla. As well as plants, arts and crafts, food and produce stalls there was plenty to keep younger visitors entertained, including welly throwing, guess the number of sweets in the jar and guess the weight of the cake. There was also homemade lemonade to try, popcorn, a barbeque and a pasta tent. Volunteers came from far and wide to help out on the day, from setting up the stalls to manning the barbeque.

Russell Ford, Support Services Manager at Ravenswood said: "After an uncertain forecast the weather soon cleared up and it was lovely to see so many local people enjoying themselves in the sunshine. We’ve raised a huge amount of money and had a lot of fun at the same time – well done to everyone who helped to make the event such a big success!"
