Norwood Ladies Brunch 201426 March 2014Press Release Over 200 guests joined Karren Brady CBE, Vice Chairman of West Ham United for Brunch at the Pillar Hotel, and raised an amazing £42,000 for Norwood, more than doubling the total raised the previous year. This will help Norwood continue to deliver its life changing services to the people it supports, maximising their potential at home, in school and throughout life. Karren Brady gave an inspirational talk on the ingredients needed to succeed in business with amusing anecdotes of her experiences as a working mum, from a young woman running her first football club to her varied career spanning advertising, television and journalism. Close aide to Lord Sugar in The Apprentice, her consultative skills are more widely used as the Government’s Small Business Advisor and more recently she has leant her expertise to Maria Miller, The Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport who is chairing the Women in Sport Advisory Board. Besides all this, Karren has been listed in The Sunday Telegraph’s 100 Most Powerful Women in Britain, received a doctorate in Business Studies from the University of Birmingham and found time to build a family. Jo Rosenthal, Chair of the Ladies Lunch Committee said: "Thanks to Karren Brady for joining us at the Brunch and enthralling the crowd with her career in business from such a young age and in the male-dominated world of football. I’d also like to thank HOB Salons, Alterna Haircare for their luxury goody bags given to all guests and everyone who donated raffle prizes and adverts. Most of all thanks to our guests for helping to make the event an incredible success by giving so generously."
