Norwood Business & Entrepreneurs Breakfast Network 2014

Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, and President of the Board of Trade, The Right Honourable Dr Vince Cable MP was guest of honour at the Norwood Business & Entrepreneurs Breakfast Network which raised more than £68,000 for the charity.

The event hosted by the One Group and held at the ME Hotel in the Strand, London was attended by more than 200 professionals from a range of large and small businesses across a range of sectors. The money raised will help Norwood continue to deliver its life changing services to the people it supports, maximising their potential at home, in school and throughout life.

Neville Newman, Chair of the Business Breakfast Committee welcomed Dr Cable, describing him as one of the most respected and outspoken MPs in Government today who has advised on issues at home and abroad.

Dr Cable spoke about the vital work carried out by Norwood, particularly with respect to the growing challenges faced by people with learning disabilities and the growth in the number of individuals with autistic spectrum conditions, most notably over the last 12 years.

He then discussed his views on the British economy and its predicted prognosis for the future.

In conclusion, Dr Cable summed up the potential risks for a sustained recovery, particularly with respect to the Eurozone, a future boom/bust cycle and international political risks.

Following his talk, Dr Cable then answered a series of thought provoking questions from the audience.
