Janis Winehouse and family honoured YN Patrons

13 September 2013

My father would talk about Norwood and how important it was to him. It gave him security, a way of life and a future. In many ways Janice and I are beneficiaries of Norwood. It was important to him, it’s important to me and it’s important to us.

Last Thursday, around 90 young professionals enjoyed an intimate cocktail reception at The Jewish Museum in Camden, surrounded by a moving Amy Winehouse exhibition, ‘A Family Portrait’. The event, organised by Norwood, recognised the on-going commitment and generosity of its YN Patrons.

YN has gone from strength to strength since its launch 20 years ago, and is a crucial part of Norwood’s fundraising programme today. Over the last year, YN supporters have helped the Charity to raise an amazing £500,000 through their support of the YN patronage programme and YN events.

David Ereira, Norwood’s Chairman Elect, thanked the assembled YN Patrons for their continued loyalty to the charity and said: "In an ever unstable climate, you are the ones who ensure that Norwood remains a market leading service provider for people with learning disabilities, vulnerable children and families in need. Each and every one of you is instrumental in securing our future – thank you so much for your commitment to us."

Amy’s mother, Janice Winehouse, her husband and brother, Brian Seaton spoke passionately about The Amy Winehouse Foundation and their personal connection with Norwood as their father was once a ‘Norwood boy’. Brian said: "My father would talk about Norwood and how important it was to him. It gave him security, a way of life and a future. In many ways Janice and I are beneficiaries of Norwood. It was important to him, it’s important to me and it’s important to us."

Nicola Koppelmann, Business Development Manager for YN, added: "The evening was thoroughly enjoyed by all and was a great success. The YN Patrons Reception gives us the opportunity to acknowledge and thank our most important supporters."
