Norwood celebrates Chanukah at JCoSS

14 December 2012

I really enjoyed the party, it was really nice and I would like to go next year. My favourite part was the food and the nice music.

Two hundred Norwood service users came to the charity’s Chanukah dinner at Jcoss this week. Norwood’s Rabbi, Stanley Coten, lit the Menorah which was followed by dinner and doughnuts.

The party was held for adults who use Norwood’s residential care and supported living services in London. Members of Links, the charity’s recreational group for adults with learning disabilities and Inbetweeners, a group for young people with disabilities, were also invited.

Dozens of people hit the dance floor in the special disco area. They had the chance to enjoy their favourite songs whilst mingling with old friends and new. The amazing evening was organised by Norwood’s Jewish Cultural Manager Shoshana Bloom.

Naomi Mushin, who lives at Norwood residential home Edgeworth Cresent, in Hendon, said: "I really enjoyed the party, it was really nice and I would like to go next year. My favourite part was the food and the nice music."

Rabbi Coten said: "The Norwood Chanukah party is an opportunity for people who use Norwood’s services to celebrate Chanukah and enrich their Jewish life. Norwood is proud that it can offer the people it supports the chance to enjoy the festival and make the most of this special time of year. "

Charles Golding, Norwood’s Director of Communications and Marketing said: "Celebrating Jewish Culture is at the heart of Norwood’s work and the people we support definitely celebrated in style at our annual Chanukah Party!"
