Chanukah comes early with Norwood’s Toy Sweep!4 December 2012Press Release It’s amazing! We had the best day-thank you! Over fifty children and parents who use Norwood’s services took part in their own ‘Toy Story’ at the Charity’s annual Toy Sweep on Sunday. Helped by Norwood staff, they collected DVD’s, books, games and other gifts with money raised by the Toy Sweep Committee. The assortment of toys is going to be distributed amongst Norwood’s children and family services, including the Unity recreational club, the Buckets and Spades short break service and its three Family Centres. Children at the event, which took place at Toys R’ Us Brent Cross, helped with pushing around trolleys full of toys and picking out the collection of gifts. They were also entertained by Franco the Magician and given the opportunity to meet Geoffrey the Giraffe of Toys R’ Us fame. Children were each given a £12 gift voucher as a Chanukah gift to spend in store. Nadine Kay, whose child goes to the Norwood Nursery, said: "It’s amazing! We had the best day-thank you!" Over the last twelve years the Toy Sweep Committee has raised over £100,000 for Norwood through organising various fundraising events. This year, it organised a James Bond Charity screening which £4,600. Debra Kleinman, Chair of the Toy Sweep Committee said: "It always gives the committee great pleasure to organise the annual Toy Sweep and I am delighted that all the children came down to help today.
