Norwood doesn’t pull any punches at Annual Boxing Dinner18 November 2012Press Release Last night’s event was a great success for everyone involved, and I am delighted that such a huge amount was raised for two incredible organisations, Norwood and the PGMT. 400 guests turned out to raise a knockout £170,000 for Norwood and the Philip Green Memorial Trust (PGMT), at the charities’ second joint Annual Boxing Dinner on Tuesday night. The evening, hosted at the Lancaster Hotel in London, began with a drinks reception and dinner. Comedian Ricky Grover entertained guests before competitors battled it out during the evening’s three bout boxing match, which saw Chello Renda of Peterborough claiming the title of International Light Heavy-weight Masters. During the evening, guests were given the opportunity to take part in the tote for a chance to win 25% of the pot before going up against each other to bid for a number of auction prizes, including a week long holiday in the Dominic Republic which sold for £3,000 and a Corporate Sailing Day for ten people which sold for £5,000. 127 items were also up for bidding during the evening’s silent charity auction. The event also featured a raffle, during which one lucky guest won a weekend in the South of France. The event welcomed a number of VIP guests, including HRH Crown Prince Shwebomin of Burma, Colin McMillan, Dave ‘Boy’ Green and Luther Blisset. TV Presenter Jeff Brazier was also there to present the Henry Cooper award to Rafael Nieto of Xen-Do Marshal Arts Club. The Boxing Dinner is an opportunity for guests to network whilst raising vital funds for Norwood, a leading UK Jewish charity, supporting children, families, and people with learning disabilities and the PGMT, which supports ill and disabled children all over the UK and overseas. Sandra Nagioff, Events & Challenges Co-ordinator at Norwood said: "Last night’s event was a great success for everyone involved, and I am delighted that such a huge amount was raised for two incredible organisations, Norwood and the PGMT. I would like to thank the Boxing Dinner Committee for all their hard work and efforts, to all those who donated prizes for our raffle and auction, and of course our wonderful guests, for making the evening so memorable."
