YN Fundraisers take to the roof to raise £11,000 for Norwood

24 September 2012

A group of 25 thrill seekers abseiled down Beaufort House EC3 in the City of London on Sunday, for YN’s Abseil in the City fundraising challenge. Braving the wet weather, the young professionals enjoyed spectacular views of the Gherkin, Shard and London Bridge, as they made their way down 150ft to the roof gardens, where they were greeted by proud family members and friends. The fundraising event raised more than £11,000 in sponsorship money for the Charity, which supports people with learning disabilities and children and families in need. Pioneered by YN Challenges Chair James Scott, the event was part of Norwood’s programme to involve young people in fundraising initiatives for the Charity.

Ben Menahem, a lawyer from Stanmore, who works at Clyde & Co which is based at Beaufort House, took on the challenge and raised an impressive £250 in sponsorship. He said:

Today has been an incredible experience and also a chance to overcome my fear of heights! It was great seeing my office and indeed views of London from a very different perspective!

"I am thrilled to have made it down, but may take the elevator next time! Norwood is a Charity close to my heart and I must thank everyone who has been so supportive. I know that every penny raised today will go to an incredible and worthy cause."

Nicola Koppelmann, Business Development Manager, YN, said: "YN Abseil in the City will definitely go down as one of our most exciting Challenges to date! It was a fantastic day for everyone involved, including family and friends who came to offer their support. I’d like to thank everyone who took part for helping to raise such an impressive amount for our services."

The next YN Challenge for will be the YN Moroccan Cycle and Trek which will take place over the first bank holiday weekend in May 2013. For more information about this event or any of YN’s Challenges throughout the year, please visit
