Norwood celebrates Patron’s Jubilee at Ravenswood6 June 2012Press Release Despite the cold and wet weather, residents, staff and volunteers at Norwood’s Ravenswood Village were joined by The Mayor of Wokingham, Cllr Bob Wyatt, to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of their Patron, Her Majesty the Queen. The celebrations included a traditional street party, along with an assortment of games and challenges. Each home also participated in a Jubilee hat competition, which was judged by The Mayor. There was also a huge banquet and live music to help the festivities along. Cllr Bob Wyatt, Mayor of Wokingham, said, "What immediately impressed me was the atmosphere. Despite the weather, the residents, staff and carer’s spirits were not dampened and it was evident that everyone involved was having a wonderful time celebrating the Jubilee. I had the rather difficult task of judging the Jubilee hat competition. Each home had submitted a handmade hat fit for Her Majesty the Queen. It was genuinely hard to choose a winner and I applaud all those who took part." Elaine Kerr, Chief Executive at Norwood added "Celebrating the Diamond Jubilee of our Patron, Her Majesty the Queen, is a time when friends and family get together to eat, drink and have fun. At Norwood, we ensured that the people we support, their families and our staff and volunteers had the opportunity to celebrate in style. We all had a wonderful time, getting into the spirit of this special occasion with a fantastic array of hats, outfits and painted faces."
