Norwood raises £75,000 on Italian job

14 May 2012

A group of young professionals trekked and cycled through the snow, sand and mountains of Sicily over the May Bank Holiday weekend to raise over £75,000 for Norwood. The 50 fundraisers joined forces for a four-day bike ride and trek across the island to raise money for the Charity, which helps people with learning disabilities and children and families in need.

The YN Sicily Challenge was Norwood’s third YN bike ride and first trek organised purely for younger supporters. As with all Norwood challenges, the participants were accompanied by people with learning disabilities who use Norwood’s services.

Two of the trips’ participants returned home with more than just sore legs as YN Challenges celebrated the engagement of Jodie Mablin and Gary Conway.

Nicola Graham, YN Manager, said:

"The YN Sicily Bike Ride and Trek was a great opportunity to explore Sicily’s beautiful surroundings whilst raising vital funds for the thousands of people Norwood supports.

“It was a real challenge for all those involved, and I would like to thank everyone who helped raise such an impressive amount for our services. I would also like to take the opportunity to wish Jodie and Gary Mazal Tov on behalf of everyone at Norwood."

Norwood Challenges will be celebrating its 20th Anniversary with two Sri Lanka Bike Rides taking place between 13th – 22nd and 20th – 29th October 2012 and Norwood’s annual Israel Bike Ride between 3rd-11th November 2012.
