Norwood chosen as an SJ Berwin Charity of the Year

5 March 2012

It is a privilege to be supporting the fantastic work Norwood is doing for people with learning disabilities, and children and families in need.

Norwood, one of the UK’s leading social care organisations, has been chosen by top international law firm SJ Berwin as one of its Charities of the Year alongside Cancer Research UK, the British Heart Foundation and NSPCC. The legal giant, headquartered in London, has set itself a £1million Charity Challenge for 2012 and will distribute the proceeds between the four good causes.

SJ Berwin has organised a number of fundraising activities throughout the year, including a variety of sporting challenges. Ray Black, a Partner at SJ Berwin and a regular Norwood bike rider, has thrown down the gauntlet to his colleagues by signing up to a gruelling 3,677 mile cycle ride across the United States of America. He said: "It is a privilege to be supporting the fantastic work Norwood is doing for people with learning disabilities, and children and families in need."

Adele Breslauer, Norwood’s Associate Director of Fundraising said "This is an excellent opportunity for Norwood to enter into a meaningful partnership with a leading legal practice. "We have a very established and well regarded Challenges programme and we are able to provide essential training support and advice to Ray Black in the build-up to his challenging expedition. We are delighted to have been chosen by S J Berwin and wish all of its employees best of luck with their fundraising, and look forward to working together to reach the ambitious £1million fundraising target."
