Our 2022 Northern Treasures cycle of Israel includes some of the most spectacular scenery of the Golan and upper Galilee, with some challenging distances between the villages and kibbutzim along the Lebanese borders. With a glorious finish on the outskirts of Tel Aviv, it’s a great opportunity to explore the vibrancy of the City – and its out skirting areas – as well as being only a short hop onto the plane for those wanting to head back early!
This fully supported, incredible 5 day ride takes us back to a much loved adventure and a challenge felt on many different levels – well rewarded by the experience, the camaraderie enjoyed and the funds raised for the people we support at Norwood.
Arrive at Ben Gurion Airport, Tel Aviv for coach transfer to Giv’at Yo’av in the North for a quick refresh, bike fitting and short cycle to stretch the legs to a local winery. Tonight we rest our heads in Mongolian tents! Fully equipped with fresh linens, modern bathrooms, and air-conditioning.
Monday 24 October Giv’at Yo’av to Merom Golan • Cycle 64km
Starting from Giv’at Yo’av, located in the southern Golan Heights, we cycle to the ancient city of Katzrin – home to a modern micro-brewery where we’ll stop for lunch. There’s some stunning areas of natural beauty we cycle through today, including Mei Eden Spring and Gilabun Falls as we make our way to Merom Golan.
Tuesday 25 October Merom Golan to Kfar Giladi • Cycle 67km
We leave Merom Golan and head towards Nimrod’s Castle, an abandoned Crusader period castle, which is up high in the Golan, on the ridge of Mount Hermon. After exploring the Castle we ride up to Misgav Am and onto Kfar Giladi where we finish our cycling for the day.
Wednesday 26 October Kfar Giladi to Farod • Cycle 69km
We cycle out of Kfar Giladi towards the Naftali Mountain range and then on to the award winning Adir Winery at Dalton. We continue our cycling towards Margaloyot a Crusader fortress which has a huge underground water system then onto the Dalton Cliffs before our resting for the night at Farod.
Thursday 27 October Farod to Shlomi • Cycle 77km
Out of Farod and towards Har Meron where we’re faced with a thigh busting 12km climb to the stunning Har Meron viewpoint – but it’s worth all that extra effort! We hug the border road arriving at Keshet Cave – one of the most beautiful spots in all of Israel – and then continue down into Shlomi for the night.
Friday 28 October Schlomi to Jaffa
It’s a mix of emotions as we start our final day, cycling out of Shlomi and heading west towards the sea and the stunning grottoes at Rosh Hanikra. We then turn south along the Mediterranean coastline with a short stop at Achziv National Park and then into the Jewel of Jaffa – the perfect place to fully relax after almost a week on the bike!
Saturday 29 October Day of leisure
It’s a free day to relax in the comfort of the hotel, wander the town or walk along the beach.
Sunday 30 October
Depart for return flight.

This is a medium-level Challenge, graded 3.5 out of 5. There are some long daily distances and up to six to eight hours in the saddle. While it has been designed to be challenging, this ride is achievable with some regular training. Ideally you should be a keen cyclist, enjoy training and ride regularly. You need to have a good level of endurance with an ability to sustain the level of effort required over a period of days. You should, therefore, be doing regular exercise with some serious cycle training, including long rides in the countryside/five hours +.
You will be required to complete a medical form and sign a disclaimer.
This itinerary is subject to change and to UK Govt, FCO and WHO guidelines – which will be reviewed in the lead up to the event.
To secure your place on this event, we’ll be asking for an initial registration fee of £395 (if aged over 35) and £295 (35 or under). You will then have the option to (A) fundraise the entire balance (B) cover the costs of the challenge yourself and fundraise a minimum amount or (C) Cover the entire costs of the challenge and the minimum fundraising requirement yourself.
