Terms and Conditions

Registration

Before you register for this Challenge, please read this information carefully. As a participant, you must complete our form in full in order to participate. The registration fee for this event is £20 which is not refundable or transferable and does not form part of the minimum sponsorship.

Participation and Insurance

You understand that this event is organised by the event organiser who is solely responsible for the conduct and operation of the event, including all health and safety requirements. Please see the event organiser’s terms and conditions, or contact the event organiser directly for more information about the event and the potential risks involved.

In the event of cancellation due to poor weather conditions, refunds will not be given however we can reschedule the abseil at a date and time that adheres with the policy of the organisers. If you do not wish to participate in the abseil due to the weather, despite the organisers still running it, then you will not be offered a refund nor will you be able to reschedule.

Participants must not be under the influence of alcohol or legal or illegal substances which would make it unsafe for them to participate in the abseil or to understand the instructions given by the abseiling contractors. If you are found to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, you will not be allowed to abseil and in this case no refunds will be given. Participants must follow all safety instructions laid out by the organiser and meet the requirements as set out in their terms and conditions as failure to do so will result in you not being able to participant in the abseil and a refund will not be given. You must inform us of any special access requirements you have as failure to notify will result in the organiser not being able to accommodate you and therefore you will have to forfeit your abseil.

You acknowledge that participation in the abseil requires physical exertion in order to complete the descent and you are aware of the nature of the challenge and associated medical and physical risks involved. You should therefore be in good health to participate. If you have any medical conditions which may impact your participation in the abseil or if you have any doubts about your health, you must get written clearance from your doctor.

You agree that you are physically capable of taking part in the abseil and agree to be solely responsible for your actions and safety and that Norwood are not responsible for any injury or illness, for loss or damage to personal effects, any accidents or death however so arising, except where injury or death arises as a result of Norwood negligence.

You accept that should any medical or physical condition arise prior to the event, which is likely to affect your ability to participate, you will notify Norwood immediately.

Fundraising

By accepting a place to participate for Norwood in the abseil you are expected to raise the minimum of £300 which does not include Gift Aid or Matched Giving. Although this is the required amount, do not treat this as a target as Norwood needs each and every one of our challengers to raise as much as possible to ensure we continue to provide vital support to the thousands of people in our care. If you do not reach the required minimum of £300 1 month after the event then you will be required to set up a direct debit to cover the remaining balance. If for whatever reason you do not participate in the challenge, sponsorship forms and any sponsorship monies received should be sent to Norwood or returned to the sponsors if requested.

Your fundraising will not include:

  • Collecting in any public place without first obtaining authorisation from the local authority and any other licences or consent that Norwood requires you to obtain.
  • Collecting on private property (including shops, pubs etc) without first obtaining permission of the owner of the private property.
  • Raising funds by carrying out door-to-door or unsolicited collections.

Age

The minimum age for this event is 18.

Photography and Personal Data

By taking part, you agree that all photographs taken during the event may be used by Norwood for publicity and marketing purposes. We may ask for a quote and/or feedback which can be used in our press release and on our website. Your personal information may be stored and used by Norwood in connection with the organisation, promotion and administration of the event and other Norwood challenges. Norwood will not pass on personal information to any third parties, except as may be required for the Challenge and in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and the GDPR.

Acceptance of Terms and Conditions

I confirm that I will be at least 18 years old on event day and I am medically fit to participant in the challenge. I will comply with any rules or regulation relating to the Event as Norwood or the Event Organiser may notify me of from time to time and follow all instructions given to me on event day to ensure the safety of myself and others.

Gift Aid

If you're a UK taxpayer, Gift Aid increases any past or future donations you may make by 25% without costing you a penny more.

 

If you click 'Yes' to Gift Aid, you confirm that you are a UK taxpayer and would like Norwood to treat all donations you have made in the past four years and all donations you make in the future as Gift Aid donations until you notify us otherwise. You understand that if you pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in the relevant tax year it is your responsibility to pay any difference.
