Norwood’s Senior Management

Norwood’s Senior Management Team is responsible for implementing the strategic decisions made by our Trustee Board.

Our Chief Executive, Dr Beverley Jacobson, heads up a team of professional and experienced senior managers. The team works together to ensure that Norwood makes the best possible use of all available resources. Our aim is to achieve positive outcomes for all the people who use our services.

Dr Beverley Jacobson – Chief Executive

Photo of Dr Beverley JacobsonDr Beverley Jacobson joined Norwood as Chief Executive in 2018 following a decade long term as Chief Executive of learning disability charity Kisharon. Bev, who is widely regarded as an inspirational leader, is extremely passionate about Norwood and championing everything Norwood represents.

Bev was awarded the Charity Times’ Charity Principal of the Year award for 2016 “for leading a remarkable year [at Kisharon] with direction and delivery”.

Steve Bennett – Director of HR

Photo of Steve BennettSteve joined Norwood in October 2021, and has over 30 years’ HR leadership experience in the manufacturing, FMCG, entertainment, technology, and health & social care sectors. He previously has held the role of Group HR Director at Care UK plc, Viapath LLP, and The Lifeways Group.

Steve is also currently a non-executive director of a local authority trading company providing community based care and support services, and holds pro bono roles as a trustee of a charity supporting disadvantaged children and families, and of a multi-academy trust of schools for children with social, emotional, and mental health needs.

Hazel Kaye – Director of Engagement

Photo of Hazel KayeHazel joined Norwood as Director of Transformation following 16 years at Jewish Blind & Disabled (JBD), 13 of which she spent in the role of Chief Executive. At JBD, Hazel implemented and oversaw a range of significant changes to the organisation as well as the expansion of their services and buildings.

Passionate about charitable work in the Jewish Community, Hazel also worked at the UJIA and UJS before joining Jewish Blind & Disabled.

Catherine McLaughlin – Assistant Director Children and Families

Photo of Catherine McLaughlinCatherine has worked across health, social care and the third sector since graduating in 1995. She has held operational and strategic positions in a variety of organisations including the Royal College of Psychiatrists, The Kings Fund, Family Action, Voiceability and Sport England.

She holds a BA Hons in Theology & Religious Studies from Cambridge University, a MA in Healthcare Ethics and Law from Manchester University and a Post Graduate Certificate in Social Care Leadership from the University of Birmingham. She is a Trustee at Ormiston Families.

Catherine is married with two children and lives in Essex.

Patrick Murphy – Director of Finance and Corporate Services

Patrick joined Norwood in July 2020 and has more than 27 years’ experience being an accomplished No.1 finance leader at Samsung Electronics, London Institute of City & Guilds, Nacro and the British Medical Association Group.

Patrick has extensive commercial and charitable sector working knowledge and experience, covering many disciplines in addition to finance.

Phillipa Shirtcliffe – Assistant Director of Compliance

Philippa joined Norwood in June 2021 with a remit covering Quality, Safeguarding, Health and Safety and GDPR . Philippa qualified in Leeds as Registered Nurse in 1990 and retains her Nurse registration. She undertook her first role in Social Care in 1997 as an Area Manager and has held a variety of operational and strategic roles at Senior Management level within commercial and not for profit national Health and Social Care providers as well as 4 years heading up the social care content team in a SaaS company. Philippa is passionate about supporting people to live the best lives and ensuring staff have the right systems and processes in place to provide truly person centred care and support.

She lives in South West London with her husband , two children and a lively dog.

Caroline Taylor – Interim Director of Services & Development

Photo of Caroline TaylorCaroline Taylor is a Registered Mental Nurse, and joined Norwood as Director of Services and Development in August 2021. Caroline has worked in health and social care for over 30 years in the NHS, private healthcare and not-for-profit sectors. She has held various General Manager and Director positions with responsibility for operations nationally, emergency planning, designing & commissioning new services as well as hospital and service re-development. Caroline is passionate about transforming services to become truly person-centred so that people can enjoy meaningful, fulfilling lives, supported by a staff team who feel valued.

Jason Levy – Associate Director of Fundraising & Community Engagement

Photo of Jason LevyJason joined Norwood as Associate Director of Fundraising and Community Engagement, following 11 years in directorship posts at national and regional healthcare charities. From a background in sales and marketing, Jason has led and implemented new diverse income streams delivering sustainable and innovative ideas across the third sector, and taken numerous projects from concept to reality.

He has a track record and passion to deliver strategic change and adept at building teams that shine through while remaining agile to changing market conditions.

Outside work Jason is also a Trustee of the British Motor Museum.
