SCOPE & CONTENT:

This sub-fond consists of all of the records created by the Jews’ Hospital and Orphan Asylum. There are administrative records consisting of minutes, pupil admissions, the daily records of the orphanage, details of Norwood’s functions and excursions and the papers of the Orphan Aid Societies employed to raise funds for the orphanage. There is also a series of correspondence, architectural plans for the orphanage, papers of the Residential School for Jewish Deaf Children, corporate records, fundraising records that consist of charity appeals, donation books and Royal Patronage letters. Furthermore it contains the religious papers of the orphanage that includes school arrangements for Holy Days and religious Holidays as well as books that concern the practices of Judaism and a Holy Bible.
