BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY: The Orphan Aid societies were founded for the purpose of augmenting funds of the Jews’ Hospital and Orphan Asylum. They were located in many different locations around the country and worked in these areas to draw funds for the Orphanage. Society’s including; the Children’s Orphan Aid Society, East London Orphan Aid Society, Edgware Orphan Aid Society and the Manchester Orphan Aid Society during the 1960s appear to be the affiliated most with the orphanage. Also, in response to donating large amounts of money to the institution the Orphan Aid Societies had the opportunity to nominate life governorships for individuals who the societies felt carried out admirable charitable duties.
