Job Description

In line with Norwood’s vision of a community that works for everyone, Children & Family Services offers families impacted by disability, SEND and mental health, a range of services and provision as part of its Whole Life Disability offer. These services are safe, high quality and impactful across the life span and enable disabled children and young people to thrive and achieve their full potential. This involves carrying out assessments of need and providing practical and supportive services based on those assessments.

Some of the main responsibilities:

1. Working collaboratively as part of an integral, multi-disciplinary team addressing the physical, emotional and social needs of all the disabled children/young people and their families using the service.

2. Role appropriate, relevant knowledge and understanding of safeguarding. Compliance with Norwood’s Safeguarding policies and procedures for promoting the welfare of children/young people and vulnerable adults.

3. To meet with disabled children/young people and their families in their own home, at the centre

(or other community settings) or in a remote working environment via Zoom (adhering to Norwood guidelines) with a view to undertaking comprehensive assessments of need and planning appropriate responses in partnership with service users and their families where appropriate.

4. Work with statutory and other authorities and organisations to the benefit of the user.

Essential Requirements:

• Must have a Social Worker Degree, Dip SW or equivalent.

• Registered Social Worker with Social Work England

• Previous experience as a Social Worker either in statutory or voluntary sector Children’s Services.

• The ability to undertake comprehensive assessments of need.

• Able to commute to Hendon Kennedy Leigh Family Centre
