Job Description

In line with Norwood’s vision of a community that works for everyone, Children & Family Services offers families impacted by disability, Autism, SEND and mental health, a range of services and provision as part of its Whole Life Disability offer. These services are safe, high quality and impactful across the life span and enable disabled children and young people to thrive and achieve their full potential. This involves carrying out assessments of need and providing practical and supportive services based on those assessments.

Some of the main responsibilities:

1. Working collaboratively as part of an integral, multi-disciplinary team addressing the physical, emotional and social needs of all the children/young people and their families using the service.

2. Role appropriate, relevant knowledge and understanding of safeguarding. Compliance with Norwood’s Safeguarding policies and procedures for promoting the welfare of children/young people and vulnerable adults.

3. To support the Referral & Assessment Manager in the overall management of the front door, whilst supervising the social work team.

4. To hold a small caseload, meet with children/young people and their families in their own home, at the centre (or other community settings) or in a remote working environment via Zoom (adhering to Norwood guidelines) with a view to undertaking comprehensive assessments of need and planning appropriate responses in partnership with service users and their families where appropriate.

Essential Requirements:

• Social Worker Degree, Dip Social Work or equivalent.

• Registered Social Worker with Social Work England

• Previous management or leadership experience within social work either in statutory or voluntary sector Children’s Services.

• Experience of professional supervision/line management.

• Proven experience of managing complex safeguarding cases.

• Able to commute to Hendon Kennedy Leigh Family Centre
