Special Bike Ride from Land's End to John O'Groats - Raising Money for Norwood's Ravenswood Village.

Special Ride team - raising money for Norwood's Ravenswood Village

On June 11th 2006 a team of riders set off to cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats - a distance of 1,017 miles to raise money for Norwood’s Ravenswood Village.

In order to meet the needs of the residents Ravenswood has committed to build a new 16-bed residential unit. This will cost over £2.5 million and the team pledged their support to raise around £100,000 towards buying the right equipment to give those using the unit the very best quality of life.

The team were Julian, Jon, Lawrence and Stephen. Four adults with learning difficulties who live at Norwood’s Ravenswood Village in Berkshire. They took turns riding tandem with a carer on the front. They were also be supported by Charles Barnett and Lynne Gilbert, and by two other carers who were riding the entire route.

Charles Barnett and Lynne Gilbert have been volunteers at Ravenswood for many years funded all the associated expenses of the ride so that every pound raised went straight to this project.
