Annie Lawson School

Based at Ravenswood Village, the Annie Lawson School provides education for 22 pupils aged between 11 and 19 with severe and profound learning disabilities.

The singular belief at the school is that all children are special and should have the opportunity to succeed, regardless of the severity of their learning disability.

The needs of the individual pupil are often very complex. Rarely are they purely educational needs but emotional and physical, too. Staff, therefore, take a holistic approach to the detailed Educational Plan which is produced for each and every pupil, and involves employing a wide range of therapeutic treatments such as physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, music therapy, and a multi sensory treatment.

Pupils learn to develop skills, manage emotions and behaviour and engage in new and exciting learning experiences and leisure activities.

While high levels of staffing allow one on one teaching, the school passionately implements inclusive care. Consequently, family members and carers have unlimited access to the school.
