London Residential Homes

Our residential homes care for adults with learning disabilities. Currently, we run 15 homes located across the north east and north west of London, covering areas such as Redbridge, Hendon, Barnet, Harrow and Stanmore, run by a manager and a team of professional carers, all of whom channel their efforts into meeting the needs of the residents.

Care is people centred. Residents are encouraged to interact with people as much as possible, both at home and out in the local community.

Properties include eight bedded specialist homes for people with autism and five and six bed homes. However in line with Government thinking, our future focus is to develop more apartment style accommodation giving individuals greater independence and control over their lives. Earlier this year, we opened our first two residential homes based on this model, Somers House in Barnet and Southwood Gardens in Redbridge.

While we do care for non-Jewish residents, all our homes observe kashrut, Shabbat and the festivals.

The management of all our homes works very closely with the local community services and professional bodies to ensure the fluid and efficient running of each home.

We work extremely hard to maintain and update all our homes in accordance with government guidelines. This is in order to meet the National Minimum Standards, which were introduced by the Government in April 2002. The legislation sets out minimum requirements for all organisations in the UK that run residential care homes and stipulates minimum requirements across a number of areas including, training for care staff and room sizes, which will become law by 2005.
