| The Karten CTEC Centre
The KARTEN CTEC Centre is a registered charity, and is one of the UK's leading suppliers of Computer-aided Training, Education & Communication services for people with a range of special needs and disabilities, including learning disabilities. It is based at Ravenswood Village, Norwood’s residential community for people with learning disabilities in Berkshire, and serves residents of the Village and the local community.
Its mission is to: Improve the quality of life and independence of people with physical, cognitive, sensory or learning disabilities through the use of innovative Adaptive Computer Technology. |

The centre customises its training according to the individual and the level of disability of the student, and addresses all aspects of communication and organisational skills. A range of educational services for people with disabilities is available, including accredited courses, basic literacy, numeracy skills, RSA level III, GNVQ and NVQs.
In addition, training courses are provided for teachers working with disabled people, carers of the disabled, advocates of disabled people and relatives of the disabled. These cover the use of computers and associated specialist hardware and software. The centre also produces it’s own bespoke educational software. |
