Unity

Unity is the name given to our recreational services for children with disabilities.

Run out of two of our three Children & Family Centres: Kennedy Leigh at Hendon and Leonard Sainer at Redbridge, Unity’s many services are available to 5 to 18 year olds and their brothers and sisters.

Unity provides activities in order to enhance a child’s experiences whilst meeting and making new friends. At the same time, of course, children’s parents and regular carers gain a much-needed break.

Unity provides a wide range of services including weekly clubs, schemes and residential holidays.

Weekly clubs are broken into three age ranges: 5 to 11, 12 to 14 and 14 to 18 year olds. Activities are numerous and include soft play, arts and crafts, drama, cookery, dance, sports, games, music, singing, and outings to local amenities such as swimming, bowling and the cinema.

Schemes take place during the school holidays and offer a wide range of activities during the day. Trips are organised to theme parks, museums and the seaside, whilst entertainers such as clowns and magicians always prove popular.

Residential holidays are organised for children and are divided into two age groups: 8 to 11 and 12 to 18 year olds. Holidays are always activity focused and include canoeing, abseiling and climbing.
