| The Somers Children & Family
Centre
The Somers Children & Family Centre is located in the heart
of Hackney in East London, an area with a high Jewish population.
Consequently, as our aim is to provide the services that the local
community demand, services at the Somers Children and Family Centre
include a choice of parent and child drop- ins to suit the variety
of Jewish communities in Hackney. These often incorporate speakers
and workshops on varied topics of child development and parenting.
Activities include a mother and toddler singing group, in Yiddish
and English; a weekly Headstart opportunity group for mothers
and babies/toddlers with special needs providing developmental
play as well as much needed emotional support; and the Migdal
after school playgroup which offers social and play opportunities
to 5 - 10 year old youngsters with special educational needs.

The center offers the services of
a full team of social workers, and operates the Binoh Educational
Support unit with a staff of Binoh therapists.
