Ravenswood TrusteesLegacies

By leaving a gift to Norwood in your will, our important work can be continued long after you die. All legacies – small or large – help to finance crucial support for Jewish families in real need.

In 2004-2005, over £2.3 million was raised for Norwood through legacies.

Many of Norwood’s supporters feel that once they have provided for their own families, leaving a legacy is a way of helping the Jewish community.

Our vast range of specialist support is easily accessible to the community through our five divisions: Ravenswood Village; Learning Disability Services; Special Education Services; Fostering & Adoption, and Children & Family Services. All of which provide care, compassion and encouragement for people in difficulty.

Your legacy will make a real difference to the future.

How to show you care

Leaving a legacy to Norwood is not complicated, but it does need to be included in a professionally made will.
There are three ways in which you can leave a gift to Norwood:

1. Residuary
A Residuary legacy is the gift of the residue or balance of the value of your estate or a percentage of the residue or balance of the value of your estate, once your debts, funeral and testamentary expenses and other legacies have been paid. Generally, this kind of gift is of the greatest benefit to Norwood as its value increases in line with the value of your estate.

2. Pecuniary
This is a specified sum of money, decided when your will or codicil is written.

3. Specific
When a particular item of value is left for Norwood, this is a Specific legacy. It includes stocks and shares, proceeds of a life assurance policy, property, furniture or jewellery.
