Businesses are being called upon to help raise vital funds for worthy causes by entering corporate teams into this year’s Capital to Coast Cycle Challenge for Charity on Sunday, 10 July. Capital to Coast 2011 aims to raise an estimated £300,000 for three charities: Norwood; the Cystic Fibrosis Trust; and the Down’s Syndrome Association.
Around 2,000 people are expected to take part in this year’s event. Participants will have the choice of either a 60-mile route from Surrey to the Hove seafront, a circular 60-mile Hove to Hove route, or a shorter 30-mile route from Haywards Heath to Hove.
Companies that sign up as part of the ‘Team Spirit’ initiative will be provided with Capital to Coast branded cycle jerseys, fast-track registration, a dedicated Team Spirit Coordinator and a private ‘Team Spirit’ marquee with refreshments at the finish line.
Ian Tate, Head of Challenges at organising charity Norwood, said: “The ‘Team Spirit’ initiative provides companies with a great opportunity to raise their profile, boost morale and fitness among its employees and, of course, support three extremely good causes. So why not sign up today and turn your pedal power into vital funds for charity?”
All companies will be asked for in return, will be to pay a £500 registration fee to enter teams of no less than six riders. Each individual team rider must also raise at least £150.

The Capital to Coast ride follows a beautiful scenic route along picturesque country lanes and tackles the dreaded Devil's Dyke before the downhill stretch to the finish line. Riders are provided with plentiful free refreshments and mechanical support throughout, and on completing the challenge, can have a well-deserved massage and picnic by the sea as they are re-united with friends and family.
