Norwood Poker 100 raises £85,000

6 December 2011

The chips were up as 100 wannabe card sharps raised £85,000 at the second annual Norwood 100 Poker tournament. Players displayed their best poker faces during multiple hands of Triple Chance No Limit Texas Hold’em at the fundraising event, held on Monday night.

Players paid £250 each to buy-in to the tournament and had the option of a £125 re-buy or add-on. They were competing for a selection of wonderful prizes - first prize was £6,000 and second a Rolex Milgauss watch. Others included three iPads, and a Macbook Air, as well as prizes in the high hand bounty. They also had the chance to win luxury boat trip as part of an exclusive draw, and a trip to Los Angeles, featuring a visit to the Playboy Mansion, during a silent auction. The event was organised by Mark Pollack, Gary Bluston, and Nitzan Yaniv, and sponsored by Simon Lewis, David Wolff and Graham Edwards, who coincidentally won the tournament and very generously donated his prize back to Norwood.

Mark Pollack, Chairman of the Norwood Poker Committee, said: “This year’s Norwood Poker 100 tournament was another incredible success and I’d like to thank all those who helped us to put on such an amazing evening, especially our sponsors and all those who donated prizes. The funds we raised are vital if Norwood is to continue providing life-changing services to the thousands of vulnerable people with learning disabilities, and children and families in need, who rely on its support each year.

“The committee look forward to starting the planning for the next Norwood 100 Poker tournament, which will be a tough act to follow after Monday night’s success.”
