Leading UK social care charity Norwood has received a generous £150,000 funding boost from Pears Foundation. The donation from the well-respected philanthropic organisation will be used to develop the Charity’s existing services for people with learning disabilities, and children and families in need.
Norma Brier, Chief Executive of Norwood, said: “Norwood’s world class services benefit thousands of families in the Jewish and wider community each year. The money we have received will go directly to the people with learning disabilities, and children and families in need, whose lives are being transformed every day through the support of Norwood’s dedicated and experienced staff and volunteers.
“We are delighted to be working in partnership with Pears Foundation and their donation will greatly assist Norwood during this difficult financial period.”
Trevor Pears, Executive Chair of Pears Foundation, along with colleagues from the Philanthropy Review, recently called on business leaders, philanthropists and the Government to deliver an extra £2billion to charities by making it easier for people to give, encouraging giving and helping giving to become a social norm.
Trevor Pears, Executive Chair of Pears Foundation, said: “The charitable sector is currently under considerable pressure. Income is falling whilst need is growing. Our family foundation is pleased to be able to increase its support for Norwood to help them to continue to deliver the important services that our Community is justly proud of. We also hope this donation will encourage those that can, to consider increasing their own donations over the coming year so that together we can protect these services."
