Having a ball at Ravenswood
7 July 2011
More than 140 residents of Ravenswood – Norwood’s residential community for adults with learning disabilities in Berkshire – were given a licence to thrill at a James Bond-themed summer ball on Monday evening.
During the event, held in the stunning surroundings of Wellington College in Crowthorne, guests enjoyed a reception and buffet dinner before taking to the dance floor for live music and a disco. There were also prizes for the best James Bond and Bond Girl costumes – won respectively by Yusef Davis and Rachel Nelson – and an opportunity to pose for official portrait photographs.
Guest Gillian Levy, a resident of the Firs at Ravenswood, said: “The summer ball was fantastic. The music was fabulous and I can’t wait to go again next year!” Fellow resident Moses Halstuk added: “I had a great time at the summer ball. The food was lovely. I liked to see everybody dressing smartly!”
The ball was organised following the cancellation due to bad weather of the annual Chanukah party for two years in succession. The organisers would like to give special thanks to The Big River Band, DJ Geoff Woodcock, Peasy Photos and Wellington College.
