Stunning customised vintage clothing made from stock donated to Norwood’s charity shops was the star of Norwood’s inaugural fashion show last night. The evening of glitz, glamour and high fashion raised £22,000 for charity’s work with people with learning disabilities, and children and families in need.
Around 170 guests attended the fundraising event, which was held at the De Vere Hunton Park Hotel, in Hunton Bridge, Hertfordshire. The unique Norwood range was re-crafted from unsold clothing donated to the charity, by up and coming designers Robert Taylor and Bridget Wilson, who manage the charity’s shops in Barkingside and Golders Green respectively. The talented pair have been preparing the collection for the last eight months and the items will now be sold to raise further funds.
Dancers from the Aviv Dance Studio in Watford kicked off the evening with a performance which featured the latest street wear from Bantum. The event also showcased collections from Rigby & Peller, Charli, Lisa Kaye, Be Flirty and Pink Label. The night concluded with a raffle draw and a tongue-in-cheek display by regular Norwood international bike riders, including residents from Ravenswood, who modelled branded cycling shirts from recent rides.
Organiser Caroline Arnold, a regular Norwood fundraiser and volunteer, said: “I am delighted with the success of the first Norwood Fashion Show and hope everyone had a ball.
“The collections all looked stunning, especially the Norwood vintage wear, and I would like to thank everyone, including our guests, for helping to ensure the evening raised so much for Norwood and its life-changing work.”
Norwood would like to thank all our designers, advertisers, gift bag and raffle sponsors, caterers, make-up artists, dressers and models, our compere Amanda Burnstein and very generous hosts, De Vere Hunton Park.
