Norwood’s first Teeny Tiny Toddle raises £4,000

19 July 2010

The sun was shining on Sunday as Puddles the Penguin made a guest appearance at Norwood’s first Teeny Tiny Toddle. The mini-marathon for Toddlers, and their mums, dads and grandparents, was held at Shenley Park, Radlett, and raised £4,000 for the Charity, which will go towards helping people with learning disabilities, and children and families in need.

Participants had the option of completing either a one or two mile toddle around the picturesque woodland route. A range of fun activities on offer, including face painting, a bouncy castle, balloon model making, lucky dip, a reading corner as well as the opportunity to shake hands and have a picture with Puddles, all contributed to a fun and laughter-filled family day out.

Amongst the 100 people who took part in the day were Marc and Gisele Waterman, from Northwood, who were joined by their children Zara, two, and eleven-month-old Zac. The family raised £305 and dad Marc said: “We sent out a request for donations to friends and work colleagues. We are keen fundraisers for Norwood and hope that when our children get older they will follow in our footsteps.”

Meanwhile Jake Kester, two, from Edgware, was joined on the toddle with his dad Ross, mum Deborah and six-month-old sister Amelie. Jake raised an outstanding £280 by asking aunts, uncles and grandparents to sponsor him on his two-mile toddle.

Norwood Event Organiser, Nicole Margolis said: I am thrilled with how well our young participants have done in raising sponsorship for Norwood's first ever Teeny Tiny Toddle! Afterwards, everyone had a great time at the fun day and especially enjoyed meeting Puddles the Penguin! All in all, it was a fantastic day which has helped us generate important funds for our work helping people with learning disabilities, and children and families in need."
