Supper quiz with murderous twist raises £3,100 for Norwood

22 March 2010

Dozens of wannabe Poirots put their ‘little grey cells’ to the test as they helped Norwood raise £3,100 at its first Whodunit? murder mystery supper quiz. More than 110 people attended the event, which was held at St Michaels Banqueting Hall in Golders Green last night.

The quiz opened with a dramatic reconstruction where actors enacted a dinner party hosted by Rebecca Rosenblatt and her boyfriend Dr Calev Cohen. The evening proves to be an eventful one and concludes with the tragic murder of Rebecca’s father, Roger Rosenblatt QC. However, it transpires that every person at the party had a motive to commit the dreadful deed.

As in Cluedo, but with a Jewish twist, the aim of the quiz was for teams to work out whether he had been mashed with a Menorah in the dining room by Dr Shlomo Steiner, or gazumped by a gefilte fish in the kitchen by Rabbi Baruch Blumenthal. Vital clues were given to the winners of each round, while teams were also given the opportunity of finding out additional information from the actors, who remained in character throughout the evening, and during two bonus rounds. The quiz was won by Team 5, although Team 4 pipped them to the post by solving the murder first.

Gemma Wolfson, Norwood’s Community Fundraiser, said: “The Whodunit? murder mystery quiz was fantastic fun and I’d like to thank everyone whose hard work ensured the evening’s success. I’d also like to thank our guests, whose generosity will help Norwood to continue its vital work supporting people with learning disabilities, and children and families in need to change their lives and help fulfil their ambitions.”
