Norwood’s new YN Co-Chair has told of his desire to take YN to ‘new heights’, following his appointment this week. Simon Walton will join fellow Co-Chair Rachael Davis Stollar at the head of the YN Board, which oversees every aspect of YN fundraising.
Simon, 27, has been a committed Norwood fundraiser since childhood and ran the London Marathon on the Charity’s behalf aged just 18. He is currently the Co-Chair of the YN Lawyers’ Committee and during his tenure its events have raised more than £70,000 for Norwood. He has also ensured the success of several other YN events by securing sponsorship and guest speakers.
A dedicated Arsenal supporter, Simon has also organised his own philanthropic initiatives to raise money for Norwood’s services. Last December, he arranged his own Chanukah appeal and raised funds to buy three large bags of toys and a 10ft trampoline for Buckets & Spades, Norwood’s short-break service for children and young people in Finchley.
Simon, a solicitor at top UK law firm Rosenblatt, said: “Norwood is a wonderful organisation providing vital services which benefit so many people within the community. I am deeply honoured to be appointed as the new YN Co-Chair and can’t wait to work with Rachael and the YN Committee Co-Chairs to build on its great work over the last few years.
“I am proud that there are so many young people who are actively giving something back to the community by becoming involved in YN and hope that together we can take it to new heights on behalf of the thousands of people with disabilities, and children and families in need, who rely on Norwood’s life-changing services.”
Simon replaces Simon Deen, who after three years has reached the end of his term in office. Simon Deen will now join Ross Freedman as Norwood’s second YN Patronage Co-Chair, with responsibility for helping to attract new YN donors.
Adele Breslauer, Norwood’s Head of Fundraising, said: “YN is one of the most important areas in our fundraising programme and is the platform on which Norwood’s future is being built, not only in terms of fundraising but also because it allows us to identify potential lay leaders of the future.”

YN offers social networking events to young people aged between 18 and 33 via the following committees that fundraise on behalf of Norwood: YN Finance; YN Lawyers, YN Today; YN Property; YN Social and YN Media.
