For the first time, Norwood is inviting the entire community to participate in its annual dinner, the highlight of the communal fundraising and social calendar.

The 1,300 available places at the glittering event, taking place on Monday 15 November, were filled months ago. However, this year, anyone with an internet connection will be able to follow the evening’s programme through Twitter, You Tube and Facebook.

Guests of the 'Norwood Digital Dinner' will be able to participate in the night's proceedings through a live feed of photos, tweets and video clips with guests including Simon Cowell and Sarah, Duchess of York. The Duchess, who visited some of Norwood’s life-changing services for children, adults and families in Hendon last month, is the guest speaker at the event.

The Norwood appeal film will also be available to view on the night, offering digital guests the opportunity to be inspired and, if they so wish, donate online.

Norwood faces significant challenges in the wake of the comprehensive spending review, with substantial government cuts to local authority budgets already impacting on income the charity has historically relied on. Chief Executive Norma Brier will appeal to diners and digital participants to dig even deeper than usual, to raise an additional £1 million for the charity.

Norma Brier, Chief Executive of Norwood, said:

"We are facing the greatest challenges in our 215 year history. To maintain our vital services for the most vulnerable children, adults and families in our community, Norwood needs us now more than ever.

"The Digital Dinner allows the entire community to join us for our showcase event. Norwood is at the heart of our community, and now everyone has the opportunity to play their part.

"I encourage everyone to join us for this unique and exciting event."
