Nathanel gets in gear for Junior Bike RideDads may well want to think again if they were planning on putting their feet up this Father’s Day. Instead, they are being asked to saddle-up with the rest of the family and participate in the Norwood Junior Bike Ride on Sunday, 20 June.

Following last year’s success, the charity family cycle day is returning to Elstree with the hope that even more participants will take part in the 10-mile ride, which last year alone saw over 500 cyclists raise £40,000.

Seven-year-old Norwood Junior Bike Ride participant, Nathanel Young, from Southgate, said: “Me and my brother Eliot are doing the bike ride to raise money for children who are not as lucky as me. I have never been on a bike without stabilizers but I am learning so that I can ride a real bike for 10 miles! I will have to practice a lot so I can help lots of children who have disabilities and family problems.”

The 10-mile off-road adventure is open to 7–14 year olds, and their mums, dads and grandparents, and the top fundraiser will win an iPod. Each rider will receive a goody pack, supplied by the event's official media partner, the Jewish News, and a free t-shirt.

This brand new 10-mile route will prove a fun day out for the whole family on Father’s Day.

Ian Tate, Head of Norwood Challenges, said: “The Norwood Junior Bike Ride combines family fun with a serious fundraising message. Not only is this a great way for families to enjoy the outdoors and keep fit but every participant is helping us support thousands of people with learning disabilities, and children and families in need.

At Norwood we take great pride in teaching young people the importance of fundraising and social action and thank everyone who has dedicated their time to this worthy cause.”
