Norwood thanks Patrons with a private view at Halcyon Gallery

20 March 2009

Norwood thanked Patrons and YN Patrons for their generous support at the annual Cocktail Party. Nearly 200 dedicated donors, who include some of the most influential members of the community, attended the party. Guests enjoyed the drinks and canapés reception and a private view of a new contemporary exhibition by international artist, Mauro Perucchetti. The party took place at one of Europe’s leading art galleries, Halcyon Gallery in Mayfair, who generously sponsored the evening.

Norwood President, Richard Desmond, welcomed guests and thanked them for their commitment to supporting the organisation’s fundraising campaigns and activities, making a difference to so many families. He highlighted the Charity’s recent achievements, notably Her Majesty The Queen’s visit to Norwood’s services at Ravenswood and the Norwood Annual Dinner, where guest speaker Simon Cowell became a Celebrity Patron.

Norma Brier, Norwood’s Chief Executive, updated the guests on new projects for the year ahead. These include the official opening of the Norwood Nursery and the Tager Centre for adults with autism. She also reported on progress with Norwood’s Pears Special Resource Provision at the new JCoSS school and the plans for an Employment Resource Centre, funded by Richard Desmond’s Crusaders band.

She said, “This is our opportunity to thank all our major supporters for contributing to Norwood to help us to provide for the thousands of people who rely on our services each year. Please can I ask you, particularly at this very difficult time, to make sure that your financial support to Norwood is not one of the cuts that you make this year, so that we can continue our vital work for the community. We can only work with the resources we receive and without your continuing, vital help, we cannot fulfil our responsibilities to the people who depend on us. “

Guests were treated to a private view at Halcyon Gallery of Apopalyptic, a new exhibition by Mauro Perucchetti, displaying his unique blend of Pop and Conceptual art. At the party, the artist mingled with the Norwood Patrons amidst the five-storey Georgian grandeur of the gallery on Bruton Street.

Paul Green, President of Halcyon Gallery, said: "It is a pleasure for us to host this event for the Patrons of Norwood and I hope you all enjoy this special private view of Mauro Perucchetti’s exciting new work. Even during this difficult economic climate, it is important for us all to support those who are less fortunate in our community."
