Norwood creates new Head of Adult Learning Disability Services role

17 October 2008

Norwood has created a new senior role to head up all of the services it delivers to adults with learning disabilities. The strategic role is at the centre of guiding Norwood in its move towards a person centred approach in all its operations.

Norwood, the UK’s leading charity providing services for Jewish children, families and adults with learning disabilities or coping with social disadvantage, has now brought all adult learning disability services under one umbrella and has appointed Angela Duce to the role.

Angela Duce - Norwood Head of Adult Learning Disability Services

Angela has more than 20 years’ experience working in the field of learning disabilities, and comes to Norwood from Shaw Healthcare, a Cardiff-based health and social care organisation. She was previously Head of Operations at MacIntyre, a large learning disabilities charity, and has also worked at Milbury – now known as Voyage – one of the largest learning disabilities providers in the UK.

"It is my goal to embed the person-centred approach into Norwood’s services," said Angela Duce. "We want to ensure that everyone we support lives the life they want to live."

David Harris, Director of Operational Services, said: "I am delighted to be able to welcome Angela to Norwood. Angela’s experience is just what we need to assist us as we continue to develop new and innovative services for the people we support."

Initially trained as a learning disability nurse, Angela is married with two children. She is currently studying for an MBA.
