Norwood’s 24-hour residential respite care facility for children with learning and physical disabilities, Buckets and Spades Lodge in Finchley, was the beneficiary of a brand new custom-built minibus kindly donated by London & Capital, a leading asset management company.

Children up to the age of 18 can enjoy short-term breaks from one to seven nights at Buckets and Spades. The large superbly equipped house with friendly, round-the-clock professional staff, provides an opportunity for the children to have an enjoyable and stimulating break, while also giving parents a chance to recharge their batteries and spend dedicated time with their other children.
Receiving the keys in the beautiful sunshine, Gary Sacks, Trustee and Fundraising Chair of Norwood, said, “This minibus is specially tailored to wheelchair users, and as a result is perfect for the needs of our children. We would really like to thank London & Capital for this generous donation to Norwood.”
Commenting on its sponsorship, Richard Leigh, joint managing director of London & Capital, said: “We identify with Norwood’s mission statement to put children and families first. We recognised the immediate need to help with the services they provide and were delighted to pledge our financial support to Norwood’s Buckets and Spades initiative by donating a new minibus. Knowing that these children will enjoy a brighter future with their families, is in total alignment with London & Capital’s long-term commitment to the future generation.”

Annette Shimoni, the manager of Buckets and Spades Lodge, commenting on the bus said: “This minibus will be a great help. It has special access facilities to enable wheelchair-users to get in and out of the minibus with a minimum of difficulty. It will make a big difference when we take the children out on excursions during their stays with us.”
