Cocktails in the City raises funds for Norwood

25 September 2008

An end-of-summer party entitled Cocktails in the City raised £14,000 for Norwood, a leading UK charity providing services for children, families and adults with learning disabilities or coping with social disadvantage.

The event, staged for young professionals by Young Norwood (YN), was attended by 420 people, including Big Brother contestant Rex Newmark.

“This is the first thing I’ve done since leaving the Big Brother House,” said the 24-year old Rex. “Norwood is a great charity. Tonight is the only time I’ve said, ‘I want to be doing this’, and it makes me very proud to be supporting a Jewish charity.”

Aron Schlagman, chairman of the YN organising committee, said, “We are all delighted that the Cocktails in the City event was such a great success. The venue was truly spectacular and the Liquid Chefs created magnificent cocktails for all to enjoy. Thank you to the rest of the committee and to everyone that attended the event and supported this incredible charity. Without everyone’s support, Norwood could not continue supporting children, families and adults with learning disabilities or coping with social difficulties.”
