Fundraisers walk for Norwood in Surrey Challenge
More than 50 fundraisers braved the heat in the annual Waterside Walk in aid of Norwood, held amidst the spectacular parkland scenery of Windsor Great Park and Virginia Water in Surrey, on Sunday May 11. Walkers from places such as Finchley, Stanmore, Edgware, Barnet, Pinner, Ilford and Hendon helped to raise more than £10,000 for one of the UK’s leading charities supporting children and families with learning disabilities or coping with social difficulties.

As with all of Norwood’s Challenges, adults with learning disabilities who use the charity’s services also took part. One walker who has arthritis took on the challenging course with the aid of a stick, and accompanied by a carer. Depending on their level of fitness, participants in the Waterside Walk tackled either the 10-mile hike, or the more challenging 20-mile trek.
“They were fundraising for a fantastic cause,” said Ian Tate, Norwood’s Head of Challenges. “The money they raised will help support the needs of children and families with learning disabilities or coping with social difficulties. We had a great time, the scenery was beautiful, and I would like to encourage supporters to come out and participate in our other Challenges.”
