Swimathon in aid of Norwood

15 June 2008

Michael Tucker's second swimathon

Thirteen-year-old Michael Tucker, who attends the University College School in Hampstead, recently organised a charity swimathon in aid of Norwood for the second year in succession.

The event, held at Francis Holland School, has so far raised more than £3,000. Michael conceived and organised the entire event himself, and was joined in the pool by over 40 of his friends. He hopes that the sponsorship will total in excess of £5,000.

The children arrived at specific time slots, and swam for 30 minutes each. Michael himself swam 150 lengths of the 15-metre pool.

“It was great fun to get lots of my friends to take part in a sponsored swim,” said Michael. “At the same time, we were raising money to help other children enjoy things which we take for granted."
