Charity golfers get in the swing for Norwood

Around 100 golfers clubbed together to show plenty of drive at the prestigious annual Bank of Ireland Norwood Golf Day, which took place on Wednesday 4 July at the Dyrham Park Golf and Country Club in Barnet. The event raised £135,000 for Norwood, a leading UK charity supporting children and families coping with disabilities and social disadvantage.

The day began with a champagne and sandwiches reception that enabled the players, many of whom are in the property industry, to engage in a spot of networking before the competition started. The competitors posted some excellent scores, demonstrating great adaptability in the face of changeable weather conditions. Once the golf was over, it was time for a well-earned drink at the 19th hole, and some top-class entertainment provided by Nick Einhorn, three-times Magic Circle Close-Up Magician of the Year.

Guests were treated to a delicious dinner, after which prizes were handed out for the best team, the longest drive and the most accurate tee shot. Top comedian Ian Richards then took the stage for a side-splitting routine, followed by an auction and raffle, with prizes ranging from holidays in Hong Kong, Berlin or South Africa to an England shirt signed by David Beckham.

Adele Breslauer, Head of Events and Personal Appeals at Norwood, said: “The Golf Day is a challenging course and a fantastic fundraiser for a good cause in beautiful surroundings. I’d like to thank everyone who took part in making the day a great success, including our golfers, our anchor sponsors Bank of Ireland and our corporate teams.”
