More than 200 would-be masterminds had their brainpower and concentration skills tested to the limit on Sunday 21 January as Norwood City Slickers held its second annual Supper Quiz in aid of the UK’s largest Jewish charity for children and families. Alan Dedicoat, widely know as the “Voice of the Balls” on the BBC’s National Lottery performed the role of quizmaster. The event, which took place in North West London, raised more than £4,500 for Norwood.
In a fearsome battle of wits, 20 teams competed against each other to answer questions on subjects ranging from cricketing legends to classic 70’s musicals. At the end of the evening, a team led by Danny Cohen from Golders Green emerged victorious to secure a prize that included wine and vouchers.
Voice of the Balls, Alan Dedicoat said: "It has been a real pleasure being involved with the Supper Quiz in aid of Norwood, helping the charity to continue its vital work supporting children and families with disabilities or coping with social difficulties. I wish Norwood every success in the future."
Michelle Lassman, Norwood Community Fundraiser, was delighted with the evening. She said: “It was a fun and stimulating evening with some tough questions and everyone participated in the right spirit. I’d like to thank Alan Dedicoat for doing such a great job as quizmaster and thank everyone who attended for helping us to raise money for Norwood.”
